Growing Substance Abuse Problem In America
Substance abuse is one of the largest ever-growing problems in America. According to statistics from 2020, there were 37.3 million illicit drug users in America, 12 years or older.1 That is 11% of the entire American population and almost 10 million more than the entire population of Texas, the second largest state by area in United States.2,3

Substance abuse have seen steady growth over the years, a 3.8% year-to-year growth for 2020.1 The rise of illicit drugs such as opioids and methamphetamine have contributed greatly to the growth. Most concerning growth is the death caused by an overdose, which is increasing at an alarming rate of 4% every single year.1
